TRiO Club
Article II
Purpose
The
purpose of the TRiO Club organization is to provide an opportunity for
members (1) to become involved in activities which will facilitate the
development of a campus climate supportive of academic, social, and
personal success; (2) to learn leadership skills; (3) to broaden
individual experiential background; and (4) to extend goals and “helping
hand” philosophy of the Student Support Services program.
Article III
Membership
The organization will be open to all Student
Support Services participants, staff, and any other duly enrolled Purdue
University North Central student who is committed to the purpose of the
organization.
Article IV
Officers
The officers of the organization will include a
president, a vice president, a secretary, and a treasurer who shall be
duly elected at the end of each academic year, installed in office at
the last meeting of the year, and serve for the period of one academic
year.
Co-presidents may be elected to office when deemed
necessary. Officers may be voted for removal of office under the
following condition; no contact made and has missed three consecutive
regularly scheduled meetings. It shall be the duty of the highest
ranking officer to inform the officer of his or her removal.
Job Descriptions

President/Co-President
The President shall
preside over general meetings of the Club. The President has the power
to appoint special committees subject to majority approval of the
current members. It is also the responsibility of the President to
attend, or appoint a delegate to attend, President's Roundtable
discussions regularly.

Vice President
The Vice President shall
preside over general meetings in the event the President/Co-President is
unable to attend. The Vice President will also be responsible for all
matters concerning Club public relations. It is also the responsibility
of the Vice President to assist the President/Co-President with his/her
administrative responsibilities.

Secretary
The Secretary shall keep
an accurate record of the meetings of the Executive Board and general
meetings of the Club. It is also the responsibility of the secretary to
perform all clerical duties associated with the office of Secretary.
These duties include, but are not limited to, generating all emails to
Club members and maintaining current and accurate memberships.

Treasurer
The Treasurer shall keep
accurate records of all financial accounts associated with the Club,
including deposits and expenditures. The Treasurer is also responsible
for monitoring all fundraising activities conducted on behalf of the
Club.
Article
V
Scholarship
The TRiO Club demonstrates the “helping hand” philosophy through its
annual scholarship program. The primary purpose of the club’s fund
raising efforts is to provide scholarships to Purdue University North
Central students. The president will appoint a committee to serve with
her or himself that will consist of one faculty or staff person and one
additional student; preferably a student from another Purdue University
North Central club that is in good standing or the student government.

Scholarship Committee Duties
It is highly recommended
that the scholarship essays be judged blindly as to ensure as much
objectivity as possible. After the judging has taken place, the results
are to be given to the president. The president and the club advisor
will work collaboratively in notifying the recipient (s) by letter and
create a certificate to be presented to the recipient (s) at the annual
Student Support Services Recognition Reception. Notification must also
be made to the Bursar’s office; providing them with the recipient’s
name, address, phone number, and the dollar amount of the scholarship.
Students receiving a TRiO Club Scholarship must provide photo
identification before receiving their scholarship.
Article VI
Fiscal
Matters
The fiscal year for the organization will coincide
with the university’s fiscal year of July 1 through June 30. The organization’s account
will be held by the university. In the event that the Club is
officially dissolved for a minimum of six (6) months by Purdue
University North Central administration, all TRiO club funds will revert
to the University Student Emergency Loan Fund. Signature authority will
be held by the organization President and Treasurer and club advisor or
director of Student Support Services.
Article VII
Treasurer’s Policy
Transactions must be made in the presence of at
least one other officer. A transaction sheet must be signed and dated
for verification. The Treasurer will maintain an account book holding
all of the Club’s receipts. All receipts must be given to the
treasurer within the designated timeframe.
Article VIII
Advisor
A Student Support Services staff member will serve
as official advisor for the organization. The organization may, in
addition, select a co-advisor from among the Purdue University North
Central faculty and staff. The co-advisor will serve concurrently with
the term of the organization’s officers.
Article IX
Amendments
These by-laws may be amended by a majority of
current members of the TRiO Club organization. A two-week notice of the
proposed amendment must be provided to the current membership for the
purpose of amending the by-laws.
Article X
Procedure
Robert’s Rule of Order shall govern all proceedings
of the organization.
Article XI
Quorum
A Quorum shall consist of a simple majority of the
membership at the time of the meeting. For executive meetings, a quorum
shall consist of a simple majority of the officers.
Article XII
Filling
Vacancies of Officers
In the event that the president is unable to
complete the term, the vice or co-president will complete the term. An
election will be held to complete the term of vice president. Other
officers will be filled by an election. Any meeting called for the
purpose of filling vacancies in office must be announced in writing to
the current membership a minimum of ten (10) days prior.
Article XIII
Discrimination
TRiO Club is committed to maintaining an

and mutual respect among its members. Membership and participation are
free from discrimination based on race, religion, color, sex, age,
national origin or ancestry, marital status, parental status, sexual
orientation, disability, or status as a military veteran.
