  • Advisor Beth Rudnick in attendance.
  • Welcome new member Patrick Morley!
  • Motion to approve agenda – Dawn.  Seconded – Sue.
  • Fundraising: the club will be selling flower bulbs on campus.  Sue motioned to accept fundraiser with Dawn seconding.  Beth and Sue donated funds ($20 each) to get the club going.  Bulbs will be purchased from Wal-Mart and will sell on campus 3 for $1.  Dawn and Patrick have agreed to make signs to post on campus and Camie will contact Physical Plant for dates/times/locations.
  • Also another fundraising idea to possibly keep in mind for winter: Coffee and Hot Chocolate sales.
  • Library update: Camie had e-mailed Chancellor Dworkin, VC’s Pula and Back, and Mr. Turner.  The Chancellor was the only reply to date.  Chancellor stated that they consider the library very important and they are still discussing what to do.  Camie did notice recent work of the changing of ceiling tiles.  Camie will also re-email the Chancellor, VC’s, and Mr. Turner in November to ask for updates.
  • Adopting a county park has been tabled until spring semester.  Although there is interest from members to do this, we’ve come in late on the calendar.  The club will discuss it in the spring.
  • Active Voices has jumped on the bandwagon to help collecting donations for Hurricane Katrina victims.  Sue has donated office space in the Newspaper office (LSF 68) as a collection drop off area for students.  Camie will contact Keri Marrs to let her know the club will do what it can to assist.  Sue spoke with Alan Norris to let him know to check in the newspaper office for donations when he collects from around campus.
  • Sue will read a speech at the National Day of Mourning for Katrina Victims on Friday 9/16 on behalf of the Active Voices Club.
  • The club has decided against trying to combine the library efforts with questions of general budget issues.  The club finds that it will be difficult to gather information and not enough open dialogs from those who could answer possible questions.
  • The club discussed possibly placing an ad in the student newspaper to see what students are interested in. Camie will let the newspaper know.
  • Next meeting: Tuesday, September 27, 2005 from 4-5pm in LSF 60
